Thought the FAU Stadium plan was moving along quicker than normal and it just seemed too good to be true? Me too. We were wrong.
According to the Palm Beach Post the City of Boca Raton is dragging its feet on an I-95 interchange that was agreed upon between FAU and the city upon approval of stadium construction. You can read about it here.
Even if FAU gets past the city's qualms, they still have the problem of powering up the backside of campus. Nothing has ever been there that has required electricty. It was an army airfield before it was a burrowing owl sanctuary and there is no power source out there.
August 2010 is a long way off, but if interchange construction is as slow as highway and road construction, it might be a close call. Still hard to believe that the all-powerful-wizard-with-the- initials-HS-that-coaches-FAU-football would let a few sniveling city officials get in the way of his dream.
