At 5-2 Orioles through 7, a lot of Rays fans probably lost hope and started heading for the gates.
But the tides quickly turned. Orioles poor relief pitching cost them the game. Dennis Sarfate (now you know why he has been cut by so many teams) gave up the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk and once again Carlos Pena (last year's Rays home run hero and a new member of the millionare club) smacked 2 homers to bring his season total to 5. Also, the Rays had a whopping 15 hits which is a large upgrade over their hit totals over the first 2 weeks of the season.
Notes:
-Congratulations to Carl Crawford on his 1,000th hit.
-Starting tomorrow the Evan Longoria major league career begins. He was recalled from Durham.
-3rd baseman Wily Aybar went on the DL.
-Jeff Niemann is to make his debut on Sunday in place of Matt Garza, who was recently placed on the DL. Jae Kuk Ryu will likely be sent back to Durham to open the roster spot for Niemann.
