People always overpay when they're desperate for something, and a lot of teams will be desperate for defense.Imberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13385394557897371549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1530558882644641875.post-8460867099800690822008-07-09T16:37:00.000-04:002008-07-09T16:37:00.000-04:00Ottawa just got Smith, I don't think they are look...Ottawa just got Smith, I don't think they are looking ne more.

I would keep him only if its 3 years or more.

I have a feeling he will sign 1 year and then by the trade deadline if the team is not in contention (very possible), he might be traded for a lot less than wat we can get now.FloridaPanthers4everhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08879011096096558214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1530558882644641875.post-3591845774542420652008-07-09T15:09:00.000-04:002008-07-09T15:09:00.000-04:00It depends. If Ottawa's offer is as good as I'm he...It depends. If Ottawa's offer is as good as I'm hearing (Vermette, Meszaros, 1st rounder, Neil, prospect) I'd deal him in a second. I don't want anybody on this team that doesn't want to be here. If a good deal is out there, I say do it.Imberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13385394557897371549noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1530558882644641875.post-17913116966994894612008-07-09T12:32:00.000-04:002008-07-09T12:32:00.000-04:00Jay needs to stay. He seems like the perfect fit ...Jay needs to stay. He seems like the perfect fit for this team right now. He is one of many young, potential future stars on this team. He's the quick, offensive minded guy on the new defensive-minded defense. On paper, he provides a great counter to Nick Boynton and Bryan Allen. Look at our probable top 6 blueliners... Bouwmeester, Boynton, Allen, Van Ryn, Ballard, and probably Montador. That should be a very solid. Bouwmeester and Montador are good offensive guys, while Ballard and Van Ryn are more stalwart net protectors. From all reports, Boynton and Ballard are more defensive, but can move the puck. I think Jay fits right in, plus he's come up with a bunch of the young guys with this team, suffering through the losses. He deserves to be rewarded for his efforts.Stanley C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16874270027948177517noreply@blogger.com
